JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The Pullo Family Performing Arts Center is seeking a creative storyteller and conceptual thinker to fill the role of
part‑time Digital Marketing Specialist .
This candidate will be responsible for day‑to‑day written and visual social media content creation and management that aligns with the performing arts center’s strategic goals. The role oversees the Pullo Center social media channels and website, and plays a key role in the success of Pullo Center performances by ensuring events are well promoted to maximize ticket sales.
This opening will typically work in‑person 20–25 hours per week. A basic schedule will be determined by the employee and supervisor, but flexibility is required for events and performances that may demand hours outside the norm.
The person in this role must be a self‑motivated, detail‑oriented team player, willing to collaborate with departments across the venue and the broader community.
Job Duties
Oversee, draft, develop, and edit content for digital platforms, including social media, newsletters, email blasts, and the website.
Create and implement a dynamic content calendar in partnership with the Pullo Director and marketing team.
Monitor channel analytics and stay abreast of trends, tools, and best practices for event promotion.
Ensure email communications and website are accessible, on‑brand, and consistent with organizational voice and design standards.
Requirements and Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of social media platforms, best practices, scheduling tools, and analytics, and the ability to create innovative and engaging content.
Solid photo/video‑taking and editing skills, including visual content creation.
Working knowledge of and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Express), Canva, Hootsuite, Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Forms, Planner).
Writing for both marketing and public relations, with willingness to become proficient with the Penn State Brand Book, Chicago Manual of Style, and AP Stylebook.
Proven ability to develop comprehensive communication plans for diverse audiences, including social media plans, content calendars, news schedules, and internal and external storytelling avenues.
Ability to monitor key performance indicators and metrics to evaluate the impact of communication strategies and refine approaches using data analysis.
Basic web content management experience.
Strong organizational skills, ability to multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
A positive outlook, sense of humor, and commitment to representing Penn State York in the community.
Education and Experience A Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field is a plus, but a combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
