The 365‑bed facility is one of the largest free‑standing psychiatric hospitals in the United States. We are located on a serene 37‑acre campus in northeast Shelby County, serving as the setting for the treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. Lakeside’s comprehensive programs treat disorders such as bipolar disorder, psychological trauma, depression and anxiety, mental illness and addictive disease disorders such as alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse.

Job Summary The Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Operator/Receptionist greets guests within the hospital lobby areas and manages the facility telephone switchboard system.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.

Education High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Previous experience with telephone switchboard systems.

Licensure/Certification None

Knowledge Excellent telephone etiquette and tact; pleasant and audible speech, with good enunciation; flexibility; ability to interact effectively with persons of widely diverse roles, backgrounds, cultures, and socio‑economic classes, those in crises or resistant or negative toward organization; ability to remain seated at switchboard for long periods of time without significant discomfort or distress.
