Overview Unified Communications Manager

Getty is seeking a collaborative and service-oriented manager with expertise in Microsoft 365 (M365) and Unified Security Operations Platforms, as well as enterprise VoIP, video conferencing, and content and collaboration tools. This role will work with Getty stakeholders across multiple campus locations in the greater Los Angeles area to refine, influence, and implement strategies to unify, modernize, and improve technology content and collaborative experiences for Getty employees and staff-adjacent knowledge workers.

This position oversees a newly formed Unified Communications team focused on rationalizing and optimizing our current collaboration tools portfolio (M365, Zoom, Slack, RingCentral, Google, etc.) and enabling the Getty community to succeed with easy-to-find, critical tools for collaboration.

The role reports to the Campus Technologies Director and collaborates with managers and supervisors across multiple technology teams to maintain operational excellence with a focus on continual service improvement and reliability. The person hires, manages, and develops personnel in accordance with Getty HR policies and Getty Digital operating objectives.

This manager oversees a team of system administrators and business analysts that manage Gettys unified communications function, admin of Microsoft 365 environments, telecommunications systems, and online collaboration tools. The Unified Communications manager ensures optimal performance, security, and user satisfaction across these platforms, driving innovation and productivity. They collaborate with Getty Digital departments to provide integration support and address management inquiries. This role functions as a key member of the IT operational management team with a focus on configuration management, security, product management, and involvement in change/problem management. It uses IT service management practices to solve complex problems and develops policies and procedures to resolve issues of broad Getty impact. It manages portfolio-level user-facing knowledge articles and documentation, and serves as the technical expert on large software implementation projects.

Major Job Responsibilities

Oversee and manage a team in the administration and support of collaboration tools including Microsoft 365 (M365) environment, VOIP, Zoom video conferencing, Slack, and related applications.

Foster a collaborative working environment with strong teamwork and open communication.

Develop and implement strategies to optimize collaboration tools to meet organizational needs.

Recruit and build a high-performing team; provide mentorship and guidance for professional growth.

Oversee integration and interoperability of collaboration tools to enhance productivity and user experience; provide Level 3 support on Getty-wide products and tools.

Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures used by Technical Support Services.

Collaborate with technology infrastructure teams to optimize telecommunications, collaboration, and Microsoft 365 environments while adhering to standards and regulatory requirements.

Ensure security and compliance of all collaboration tools in accordance with policy; implement and maintain security measures to protect organizational data.

Plan and implement new features, updates, and upgrades; oversee project management activities.

Monitor and analyze usage metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous enhancement.

Diagnose and resolve issues related to Microsoft 365, telecommunications, and collaboration tools; escalate to vendors as needed.

Collaborate with other departments to evaluate needs and provide collaboration solutions.

Prepare and manage budgets for Microsoft, telecommunications, and collaboration tools projects and operations.

Manage relationships with vendors (Microsoft, telecom providers, third-party solutions) to manage SLAs and costs; negotiate terms.

Direct, analyze, approve, facilitate, and document business processes and procedural changes; prepare recommendations with enterprise impact.

Serve as the technical expert on projects and apply IT service management practices to design services and systems.

Apply business analysis concepts to identify complex system objectives and end-user needs; write RFPs for complex software applications or services.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent technical work experience.

Technical Microsoft 365/Azure certifications preferred.

8+ years of experience managing Microsoft 365 environments, including performance optimization, updates, documentation, security, and compliance.

2-3 years of direct management experience (recruiting, scheduling, coaching, etc.).

Proven experience managing and supporting content and collaboration tools (M365, RingCentral VoIP, Zoom, Slack, and similar SaaS).

Knowledge of security and compliance standards for online collaboration and file sharing.

Experience with Microsoft Security Suite (e.g., Defender) and Microsoft Exchange.

Experience with video conferencing technologies (Teams, Zoom, WebEx, Google Meet).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to consult with users and provide technical guidance on complex projects with minimal supervision.

Experience in recruiting, building, and developing high-performing teams.

Knowledge of ITIL and enterprise architecture concepts; ability to develop process and system implementation plans.

Strong analytical skills to monitor usage metrics and drive improvements.

Ability to manage training, support, and documentation; experience with unit integration and acceptance testing.

Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
