The Inspector II performs routine checks, tests, gauging, and instrument inspections of raw materials, goods in process, and finished goods. Depending on the organizational needs at the time, the Inspector II may report directly to the roles of Quality Manager, Senior Quality Engineer, or Production Supervisor, or may receive indirect leadership/supervision from the roles of Senior Quality Technician or Lead Inspector. Essential duties and responsibilities include: Inspection and test: Perform operational tasks in the cleanroom and surrounding area, typically including: Cleaning of materials Use of laser or manual engravers to mark materials Routine visual, dimensional, and analytical testing on materials Results recording in SAP and other systems, as required Packaging of materials May perform CMM operation, PTF, C-Scan, and functions in class 100 and 1000 portions of the clean room. Notifies supervisor and initiates NCMRs for nonconforming or suspect product. Ensure that standard procedures are followed in all aspects of work. Train others within or outside of the department. Additional requirements include: Provides backup for other inspection or quality functions as needed to cover for vacation or increased volume. Completion of First Article Inspections (FAI) and associated interactions with customers and their IT portals for management of quality data. Involved in (leading/completing) testing activities that fall outside the normal range of final inspection processes (e.g. mechanical testing, color testing, advanced dimensional testing). Collects and/or reviews of inspection data for trends and statistical control. Education and/or experience: High school or technical school education, or equivalent, with proficiency in mathematics, coupled with at least one year experience as a Quality Inspector or similar role. Language skills: As this role potentially requires communication with employees at all levels, the individual must have excellent oral and written skills in English. Mathematical skills: Ability to read and equate metal weights and sizes in order to establish accountability for movement in and out of the plant. Reasoning ability: Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized and non-standardized situations. Other skills and abilities: Requires the ability to operate various office equipment to include a computer, adding machine, copy machine, fax machine and telephone. Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for the full shift worked and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; reach above shoulders; and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move a few ounces up to 45 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move up to 90 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to low concentrations of fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. All such exposures are customarily within limits established by federal and state regulatory bodies. The noise level in the work environment is usually low. Hourly range: $22 to $26. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs. Pay range: $23.04 - $32.52 Actual base salary offered varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location. The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
