Institutional Equity Derivatives Sales – Analyst/Associate (San Francisco) – Location: San Francisco, CA. Division: Institutional Equity Division (IED). Level: Analyst or Associate (1–4 years experience). The Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a global leader in the origination, distribution, and trading of equity, equity-linked, and equity-derivative securities. Our Equity Derivatives Sales & Trading team partners with hedge funds, asset managers, pensions, endowments, foundations, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals to deliver differentiated content, liquidity, and product solutions that help clients generate alpha and manage risk. We are seeking a high-performing professional to join our San Francisco-based Institutional Derivatives Sales team in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with exposure to senior leadership, strategic clients, and cross-divisional initiatives. What You’ll Do
Support and grow the institutional derivatives business across the West Coast, focusing on strategic client coverage and revenue generation. Collaborate with internal partners across Trading, Structuring, Advisory and Private Wealth Management to deliver integrated solutions to clients. Work across institutional and wealth channels to enhance client engagement and expand the reach of our derivatives platform. Contribute to the distribution of ideas, trading axes, and execution across a broad suite of products including listed and OTC options, custom equity baskets, QIS, exotics, dispersion, and structured solutions. Drive initiatives to improve consistency, scalability, and client engagement across the platform. What We’re Looking For
1–4 years of experience in institutional sales, trading, structuring, or a related role. Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work autonomously and take ownership. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build trust with clients and internal stakeholders. Passion for markets and a desire to grow within a high-performance team. Experience or interest in bridging institutional and private wealth channels is a plus. Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $200,000 per year at employment start. Base pay is determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which may include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short- and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley-sponsored benefit programs.
