Inside Sales Specialist – Building Materials

Position: Full‑time, 40 hours/week; shift mix (days, evenings, rotating weekend)
Job Overview The Inside Sales Specialist will assist customers and contractors with any project needs in the building materials and construction industry. This is a full‑time position located at the Eaton, OH store.
Essential Functions
Provide excellent service to customers and exhibit courtesy and respect to team members, vendors, and customers.
Greet and assist customers proactively; answer questions, resolve concerns, advise on solutions, and upsell add‑on sales when appropriate.
Become knowledgeable about GHC product lines, industry trends, and stay up‑to‑date on changes.
Utilize software to create accurate take‑offs, estimates, quotes, purchase orders, and invoices for new homes, business, outbuildings, and additions.
Respond to inquiries regarding product selection, orders, pricing, delivery scheduling, and installation.
Explain orders to customers, obtain sign‑off before purchase orders, and ensure correct color, size, and quantity of vendors’ orders.
Inform manager of order discrepancies, process returns, research credits, and follow‑up to ensure credits issued.
Ensure all product is invoiced before leaving store and research credits/returns as needed.
Maintain follow‑up from quote to project completion and resolve complaints or product damage with Sales Manager.
Perform additional customer service tasks (cutting keys, filling propane, running register, assisting rentals, answering phone, stocking, cleaning, organization).
Support department head duties: front & face, cycle counts, price updates, and inventory maintenance.
Prioritize customer service in assigned area and assist other departments as required.
Open and close store per schedule and maintain a safe working environment.
Follow all company policies and procedures; perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, and 1‑3 years of related experience or training.
3+ years experience in building materials/construction industry.
1+ year customer service experience.
Retail experience a plus.
