Our range of research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production capability help our customers bring their high-quality products to market faster.OVERVIEW: The Level II Mechanic would have an important role on the Pratt Miller Motorsports Team and have responsibilities both at the shop and track.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS: Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Mechanic Oversight· Provide direction, communicate requirements, and ensure accountability to team and company objectives.· Mentoring and training of Associate and Level 1 mechanics to align process and quality of work with overall team expectation.· Identify opportunities for improvement and lead the plan to realize improvements.· Support and guide Level 1 and Associate Mechanics to follow processes and use resources available to complete tasks accurately and timely.Vehicle Preparation· Prepare vehicle ahead of each event ensuring that all pre-event development tasks have been accounted for.· Work closely with Crew Chief, Car chief, and Race Engineer to prioritize vehicle reliability and performance development.· Prepare car assemblies to the prints and engineering requirements.· Refine and develop thorough practices and understanding of all subsystems of the vehicles.Spare Inventory and Tracking· Utilizing Pratt Miller database software to track mileage.· Working with Crew Chief and Pratt Miller departments to order spares as required.Trackside Execution· Responsible to ensure that the mechanics and the car are ready to execute all phases of the event:·Vehicle service and preparation·Pit stop execution – Tire changing.·Additional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.)Shop Execution· Organization and cleanliness of work area.Additional Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required.· Support Pratt Miller initiatives, marketing events, and general development as necessary.· Support vehicle development and testing in addition to standard race team operations· Provide constructive feedback on product needs and processes.· Develop leadership skills.· Work with the Car Chiefs, Engineers, and Operation Manager to create a common level of preparation on racecars.· Positive attitude with emphasis on teamwork.· Look for and identify ways to improve your skillset.· Identify issues and help propose solutions to Crew Chief and Car Chiefs.· Help with feedback on long-term racecar planning.· Understand and refine the skills and knowledge needed to accurately make changes to the car trackside.· Focus on learning and enhancing understanding of the vehicle systems.· Additional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.).· Valid passport or ability to obtain a valid passport for North American and International travel.Education and Experience· 5 years or greater of Motorsports experience with a focus on mechanical vehicle preparation, car development, and event execution.· Experience working in a team to achieve program goals and continuously improve.Work Environment/Physical Demands· Stress may occur periodically.· Typical shop days start at 7am. Long shop hours may be required at times.· Extended hours can be expected during travelling race events.· Travel of up to 60% is required.· Weekend and holiday work can be required based on race schedule.· Physical labor is a regular part of daily work.· Team oriented attitude is required for success in this role.**Pay Range:**$63,500.00 - $101,700.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
