Prep Cook & Utility Worker, Grille (004019) The Grille at Middlebury College is looking for a part‑time employee (20 hrs. per week). Shifts run Wednesday through Sunday from 4 pm to 8 pm.

We are seeking a food‑service/kitchen worker to perform a variety of duties, including preparing the restaurant for service and cooking for other campus venues. Ages 14+ may apply, but employees under 16 may not use sharp tools, ovens, or chemicals.

This is a part‑time, non‑benefited position with a starting wage of $16.94 per hour.

Responsibilities

Prepare fruits and vegetables (wash, peel, chop, etc.).

Maintain a clean and tidy workstation.

Stock items in preparation for future shifts.

Notify the manager of any out‑of‑date or rotting food.

Prepare sandwiches, wraps, salads and other Grab n Go options.

Load soiled dishes, pots, pans, containers into the dish machine and unload after washing.

Follow sanitation guidelines and practice proper housekeeping.

Unload and stack dishes in appropriate storage areas.

Sweep and mop kitchen, dish room, walk‑ins.

Remove trash‑can liners and recyclables; dispose in trash and recycling receptacles.

Rinse trash cans and compost containers.

No previous experience required.

Practice proper health sanitation and maintain a good attitude.

Requirements

Physically able to lift 10‑20 lbs. many times a day; up to 50 lbs. several times per day.

Capable of pushing or pulling a cart up to 70 lbs. frequently.

Frequent use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

Must walk frequently and stand for long periods.

Must be able to work in a hot and humid environment.
