At EDSI you will participate in a two-week training program to ensure you are ready for success!
EDSI operates the Staten Island NYC Business Solutions Center serving the small business community. NYC Business Solutions is offered by New York City’s Department of Small Business Services, providing a range of services to help small businesses start, operate, and expand their business. Services provided at our Center include business courses, business planning/consultations, financing assistance, legal assistance, hiring, navigating government, compliance consultations and Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise Certification.
Cannabis NYC is an interagency hub of citywide resources and services designed to support the development of a thriving and equitable cannabis industry. The hub will support aspiring entrepreneurs in the development and launch of their cannabis business through the services provided by the NYC BSC.
Responsibilities
Conduct outreach to identify customers interested in opening a cannabis business (i.e., survey, attending events, newsletters, etc.)
Connect customers to business services as outlined below but not limited to:
Business planning, including review of business plans and technical assistance in developing marketing strategies and financial projections
Business Education workshops and seminars on topics relevant to business development
Referrals to coaching and other partner and SBS services (i.e., Small Business Partnership Initiative, FastTrac, etc.)
Registering and/or certifying their business
Eligibility recommendation for cannabis licensing
Applying for appropriate cannabis license and/or permits
Accessing Financing and Legal Assistance
Provide information and technical assistance for NYC and NYS regulations and cannabis licensing programs as they become available
Customers served are entered into SBS CRM – Dynamics
All services should be reported in Dynamics with Cannabis program designation as instructed by SBS
Assist with other duties as assigned/needed
Qualifications
Proficient in reviewing and writing business plans
Experience in providing technical assistance in developing marketing strategies and financial projections
Knowledge of City and State license and permits
Knowledge of registering a businesses
Understanding of financial landscape for small businesses in NYC
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree
