Grundfos is seeking an experienced District Sales Manager (DSM) to join its team. This DSM position is primarily responsible to grow the business in the territory by creating and maintaining relationships with water utilities in Southern California. You will also support the Grundfos Business Partner outside sales people in your territory who also have front line responsibility for day-to-day sales and market activities with Grundfos end users. The DSM will participate in staff meetings and will contribute to the overall strategies and business direction of the Municipal business unit. This position reports directly to the Sales Manager of the West Region and will operate remotely in the Southern California territory. Candidate must reside in Southern California. Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support. Your main responsibilities: • Create, build, grow, and maintain relationships with water districts and engineering firms. • Drive Business Partners to grow sales by making sales visits with their outside sales people. • Participate in local and regional trade shows so as to facilitate and add value to the selling process. • Continually develop knowledge of the business climate, applications, water industry, and competition. • Develop, maintain, and execute a territory plan. • Continually assess current Municipal / Water Utility distribution channels, develop and evaluate their performance and manage conflict, while ensuring alignment with territory plans. • Train business partners on Grundfos products, applications, and sales processes. • Maintain data relative to Partner’s outside sales people, accounts, and activities. • Document customer interactions. Prepare reporting as needed. • Take part in continued education and training seminars, offered by Grundfos, to obtain and advance product, market and technical knowledge. The midpoint of the pay range for this position is $120,500. Actual pay will depend upon skill set, experience, and location. Your background: We imagine that you have: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or other technical discipline. Additionally, have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the Water / Wastewater Industry. Professional sales skills including key account strategies and plans. In-depth knowledge of the Municipal / Water Utility market segment. Demonstrated an understanding of pumps and pumping systems, rotating equipment including electronically controlled pump systems (VFD, controllers, etc.) used within the Municipal / Water Utility market. Ability to develop and deliver effective product presentations for all sizes of audiences for both internal and external customers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent PC skills with above average knowledge and use of Microsoft Office application programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Good aptitude for learning and applying new systems and programs. Must be able to travel within Southern CA 80%. Air travel will be 10%. Thus, candidates should be able to maintain valid identification. What’s in it for you?
