Summary
The Consultant Registered Nurse (RN) provides expert professional nursing consultation and oversight to ensure the facility's compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations related to resident health and care. This role involves maintaining medication regimen oversight, liaising with treating physicians, training on healthcare plans, as well as serving as a clinical resource for facility staff. Responsibilities and Duties
The Consultant RN's duties shall include, but are not limited to, the following: Policy and Procedure Development:
Collaborate with the Facility Administrator and staff to formulate, implement, and review policies and procedures that directly or indirectly impact the health and safety of residents and staff. Health Record Review & Continuity of Care:
Review resident health records to advise on and ensure continuity of care, specifically addressing individual resident health issues and concerns with both their treating physicians as well as facility staff. Staff Training:
Consult with and advise facility staff regarding residents’ health and train staff on the proper implementation of all established Health Care Plans and Restricted Health Care Plans. Reporting:
Provide updated resident and facility health status reports quarterly and on an as-needed basis for critical updates. Medication:
Conduct periodic reviews of the facility’s MAR, maintain close communication with the facility’s Pharmacy, and check medication upon delivery to the facility. On-Site Visits & Time Allotment:
Visit the facility on a regular basis to provide the required services. The minimum time commitment is
2 hours per month per resident . Any additional hours beyond the minimum must be mutually agreed upon with the Facility Administrator. Availability:
Be available on an
on-call basis, 24 hours a day , to answer questions and address urgent clinical concerns from facility staff. Minimum Qualifications
The Consultant RN staff must meet the following essential requirements: Good assessment and writing skills Ability to clear a criminal background check with DOJ/FBI Licensure:
Must possess and maintain a current, active, and unrestricted
Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California. Professional Judgment:
Must be able to exercise professional judgment and demonstrate adequate job knowledge in accordance with
professional nursing standards
and current
State and Federal regulations . Physical and Mental Fitness:
Must be able, both physically and mentally, to perform the assigned duties in a safe, competent, and effective manner. Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a residential care or long-term care setting.
