Job Summary The Institutional Query Analyst is responsible for managing and maintaining the University’s PeopleSoft query environment, ensuring that campus-wide query usage aligns with established business processes, internal policies, and data governance standards. This position supports institutional data integrity by conducting regular audits, analyzing existing queries, and collaborating with departments to address discrepancies and improve data reliability. The analyst plays a critical role in campus data governance through oversight of query security access, coordination of query writer training, and leadership of the campus-wide query literacy program in partnership with key data stakeholders.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the University’s ad hoc query request system, ensuring timely updates, troubleshooting, and coordination of query maintenance needs across campus.
Serve as a data integrity analyst by evaluating and validating existing queries to ensure alignment with university business processes and internal policies. Conduct regular data audits and collaborate with campus offices to resolve discrepancies and improve data quality.
Coordinate and lead the ongoing training program for employees with query-writing access. Serve as chair of the training program and provide regular updates and reports to the Academic Standards Committee.
Conduct regular audits of query viewer access to ensure proper security controls. Oversee the review and submission of security role requests required for running or viewing queries.
Coordinate a campus-wide data literacy program focused on query usage, working in partnership with the Data Literacy Program Manager and Statistical Analyst to ensure consistency with other institutional data literacy initiatives.
Assist with the preparation, analysis, and reporting of official institutional data to federal agencies, including the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), and respond to ad hoc internal and external data requests.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of the department.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in data science, information systems, computer science, statistics, business analytics, or a closely related field; and three (3) to five (5) years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or information systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Adept in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Strong analytical skills
Ability to review business processes for accuracy
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to process and interpret information received and ask questions as appropriate
Ability to design SQL queries
Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with use of SQL and PeopleSoft; demonstrated data quality control experience; demonstrated high levels of attention to detail; experience working in academia.
