We are looking for a
Database Administrator
based in
Latin America
to work on a long-term project for one of our clients, a Software Development company, based in Los Angeles, CA.
Our client’s solution is a mobile-first maintenance management platform that helps teams streamline work orders, track assets, and schedule preventive maintenance, all in one place.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain high-performance MongoDB Atlas and PostgreSQL database systems, performing engine upgrades as needed.
Design and optimize relational schemas, queries, and indexes.
Build and maintain ETL pipelines for data transformation and validation.
Manage database configurations, replication, sharding, partitioning, and clustering where appropriate.
Write complex queries and assist and educate developers on best practices for both PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases.
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data integrity across all database platforms. Test database backup and recovery strategies.
Proactively create and maintain robust monitoring and alerting with existing tools and processes.
Perform capacity planning and performance tuning for production databases.
Implement and enforce database security policies, roles, and permissions.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents in a timely manner.
Write scripts and execute existing scripts to perform manual data corrections and fixes as needed.
Requirements
Advanced Level of English
7+ Years of experience in database administration, engineering, or related data infrastructure roles.
5+ years of experience with MongoDB or Mongo Atlas, including replica sets and sharded clusters.
5+ years of experience managing PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
Strong understanding of MongoDB data modeling and JSON-based document structures.
Proven experience in data migration or system replatforming projects.
Hands on experience with AWS RDS or Aurora for PostgreSQL, including configuration, performance tuning, and scaling.
Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch or MongoDB Atlas Alert Manager.
Solid understanding of database security best practices and access control.
Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines with database changes and migrations.
Knowledge of containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for database workloads.
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Bonus Points
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related fields
Experience with additional database platforms (e.g. Redis, Elasticsearch)
Experience developing databases and data warehouses with an Agile SDLC.
Experience with Replication and Change Data Capture (CDC) techniques and tools.
Experience with database partitioning and microservices
