Heavy Equipment Mechanic
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the fleet equipment. Equipment includes but is not limited to wheel loaders, excavators, skid steers, forklifts, man lifts, and grinders. The heavy equipment mechanic demonstrates responsible work practices with safety as the number one goal. Performs appropriate preventive maintenance on equipment as well as necessary repairs to keep machines up and running daily.
Reports To Operations Manager
Responsibilities
Perform services, diagnostics, and part replacement.
Have own tools.
Maintain good records.
Use and willingness to learn computer tracking software.
Maintain a clean work environment.
Read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic schematics.
Identify problems and devise viable solutions.
Have knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere parts and systems.
Work in a team environment.
Have a clean driver’s license.
Full time position with overtime opportunities.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Critical Skills
ASE certifications are a plus.
Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing.
Drive truck with a manual transmission.
Work in all weather conditions.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Previous CDL truck driving experience preferred.
Waste industry experience a plus.
Completion of college or vocational or technical training.
Experience with routine maintenance operations is required.
