1. Background Campbell South Asia promotes the improve policy and practice in public health, education, and social development. The organization specializes in systematic reviews and meta-analyses that adhere to the standards of the Campbell Collaboration. As Campbell’s work often intersects with issues of inequality, community dynamics, social inclusion, and behavior change, sociological insight is critical. The Consultant – Sociologist will provide expert input to ensure that research outputs reflect relevant social theories, cultural context, and the lived experiences of target populations.

2. Purpose of the Role The Consultant will enhance the social and contextual analysis in Campbell’s evidence synthesis work. This includes integrating sociological perspectives into review frameworks, interpreting findings through a social lens, and contributing to the development of inclusive, actionable recommendations.

3. Key Responsibilities

Review research frameworks and ensure inclusion of relevant sociological theories and perspectives.

Analyze the social dimensions of findings from systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Advise on equity, inclusion, gender, caste, and other sociocultural factors in evidence synthesis.

Draft or contribute to background sections, interpretive analysis, and policy implications in reports and briefs.

Collaborate with research teams to contextualize evidence within local or regional social settings.

Support stakeholder engagement strategies that reflect cultural sensitivity and inclusiveness.

Contribute to capacity building or internal learning on applying sociological insights in research.

4. Supervision and Work Arrangement The Consultant will report to the Project Manager and work closely with Campbell’s interdisciplinary teams. The role may be remote or hybrid from the Delhi office. Flexibility is expected around deadlines and collaborative meetings.

5. Qualifications and Experience

Master’s or PhD in Sociology, Social Anthropology, or a related field.

At least 3 years of experience in applied sociological research or program evaluation.

Familiarity with qualitative and mixed methods research approaches.

Experience working on issues of social equity, exclusion, gender, or development policy.

Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to produce clear and insightful content.

Understanding of or experience with evidence synthesis or systematic reviews is desirable.
