FAR INSPECTIONS
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.
Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over nine years.
Occupancy Verification Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the inspection is:
Verify property occupancy.
Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
We contract with inspectors at a county level. This means you will be responsible for completing all inspections in your county. In some cases, you may split a county with another inspector if there is enough volume for two inspectors.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections within 4 days after assignment; most common inspections should only take 5–6 minutes.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the mobile app.
Travel extensively during the day, making numerous stops within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, varying by county and volume. Although paid per inspection, you can expect to earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month to month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
