FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification?
Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to verify property occupancy. The purpose of the property inspection is:
To verify property occupancy.
To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
We contract with inspectors at a county level. This means that you will complete all inspections in your county. In some cases, you will split the county with another inspector if there is enough volume for two inspectors.
Responsibilities
Complete each inspection in 5–6 minutes.
Finish inspection within 4 days after assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Drive extended periods within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Valid driver's license and a standard background check.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, equivalent to $30–$40 per hour. Depending on county and volume, you will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Work is consistent month-to-month. There is no mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
