We are seeking a Tool Designer/Tool & Die Maker to join our team.

In this role, you will support internal customers by creating and modifying designs using advanced CAD tools and documentation protocols.

You will collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop solutions for tooling, fixtures, and work‑holding challenges, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities

Sets up and operates machines such as lathes, drill presses, or band saws to fabricate prototypes or models.

Determines fixtures, machines, tooling, and sequence of operations to fabricate parts, dies, and tooling according to drawings and sketches.

Drills, countersinks, and reams holes in parts and assemblies for bolts, screws, and other fasteners using power tools.

Layouts and marks reference points and dimensions on materials using measuring instruments and drawing or scribing tools.

Cuts, shapes, and forms metal parts using lathe, power saw, snips, power brakes, shear files, and mallets.

Grinds, files, and sands parts to finished dimensions.

Fabricates metal or plastic parts using hand tools.

Aligns, fits, and joins parts using bolts, screws, welding, or gluing.

Assembles mechanical, electrical, and electronic components into models or prototypes using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machines.

Wires and solder electrical and electronic connections and components.

Reworks or alters component models or parts as required to ensure performance of equipment or that the parts meet standards.

Inspects and tests models or other products to verify conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments or circuit testers.

Devises and constructs own tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures, or modifies existing tools and equipment.

Makes bridges, plates, wheels, cutting teeth on wheels and pinions, and threaded screws.

Consults and confers with engineering personnel to discuss developmental problems and recommend modifications to correct or improve performance of product.

Records specifications, production operations, and final dimensions of model for use in establishing operating standards and machinery procedures.

Responsible for prototype fabrication to support product development.

Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Job tasks may also involve

Using personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, gloves, and other equipment as established in company policies and safe work procedures.

Working with cutting and machining fluids, solvents, lubricants, and other hazardous chemicals using appropriate safety controls.

Lifting up to 50 pounds.

Frequent carrying, bending, standing, sitting, and repetitive motion.

Employee will be expected to attend safety training, serve on the facility safety committee, and participate in hazard analysis and resolution.

Qualifications

Minimum 5+ years of tool‑making experience, preferably in jig and fixture fabrication.

Must be able to operate, set‑up, and maintain major equipment including CNC controls, lathe, surface grinder, cut‑off saw, inspection devices, and related equipment.

Must be able to interpret most technical drawings, blueprints, geometric tolerance, specifications, and illustrations.

Must be an organized self‑starter, work with minimum supervision, and communicate well.

Must be able to use a systematic approach to solving problems through research and evaluation of alternative solutions.

Must communicate well verbally and in writing and work well in a team environment.

Must respond to changing priorities with minimal disruption.

Maintain organization against ISO operation procedures.

Complete all job‑specific required training.

Perform duties to achieve overall business unit metrics.

Potential salary range for this role is $34.22–$37.82.

Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law.
