About the Role Our Market Fundamentals & Trading practice is looking for an experienced Power Market Advisor – Senior Consultant to join the team. In this role, you will be working at the forefront of the energy transition alongside market specialists with deep industry knowledge. You will deploy and broaden your skill set and sector expertise.
We are proud to work with the foremost policymakers, regulators, investors, developers, lenders, and energy companies operating globally across the energy supply chain. Led by a Senior Management Team respected as Thought Leaders within the industry, we help our clients shape, define and implement change in energy markets.
What you will be doing You will be part of our Power Market Advisory team based in New York, and have responsibility for developing our power market outlooks, and supporting our strategy and transaction advisory projects in the North American power sector. You will be working side‑by‑side with our team of market modelers, economists, and energy experts.
The role is ideal for candidates who want to see the impact of their market analysis working at the intersection of energy markets and capital markets. We will be looking for people that love getting into both detailed analysis, and the written and oral presentation of their work with clients and senior stakeholders.
Your skills and experience Our Senior Consultant position requires 3 to 5 years of experience in a consulting or industry role, with a strong background in Power Market Modeling.
Demonstrable work experience in wholesale power markets, power market analysis, policy, regulation and market design, focused on North American power markets.
Analytical skills applied to wholesale electricity market fundamentals, with experience of production cost modeling in PLEXOS or other software (e.g. PROMOD, AURORA, SaaS tools) highly desirable.
Ability to handle and manipulate large amounts of data in Python.
Exposure to appraising infrastructure projects using basic discounted cash‑flow analysis.
Experience in commercial and contracting structures, with an understanding of the routes to market for power generation assets and designing business models in energy markets.
The ability to take ownership of your own work, and contribute to the delivery of results in client‑facing environments.
Excellent communication and presentation skills and a track record of effective teamwork with people from different disciplines with different backgrounds.
