Job Description Summary We’re looking for a production‑oriented commercial insurance professional to build out a book of business through strong agency and broker relationships. As an Inland Marine Territory Manager you will manage large, complex or specialty commercial lines, underwrite, market and manage new and renewal business, and lead agencies in the territory.

Key Responsibilities

Monitors market conditions and gathers market information.

Analyzes risks and prepares reports; reviews agency books to recommend action plans.

Achieves production, profitability and service objectives; quotes, prices and underwrites policies and endorsements.

Manages workflow for a large volume of work, ensuring file quality and efficiency.

Drives agency business planning to deliver detailed performance plans with checkpoints.

Markets company’s products and services to help achieve agency and company results.

Consults with agents and internal partners to develop business solutions and improve retention and profitability.

Communicates with agencies about company objectives, product changes and market intelligence.

Completes agency visits to develop new accounts, review performance and enhance relationships.

Leads delivery of appropriate customer service levels and follows up on advanced requests.

Ensures tools, training and support are in place; identifies and communicates training needs.

Manages workload effectively and backs up team members; monitors business plan results to drive action plans.

Reporting Relationships Reports to Manager or Director. No direct reports.

Typical Skills And Experiences Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

License/Certification/Designation:

Relevant professional designation such as CPCU or CIC is preferred.

Experience:

Seven to ten years of middle‑market commercial lines underwriting experience preferred; two to five years of sales and business development experience in middle‑market commercial lines is also preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge of commercial underwriting, pricing and coverage; knowledge of company sales and underwriting standards; state statutes and regulations; excellent interpersonal and sales skills; ability to build and maintain partnerships; independent judgment; decision‑making ability; strong drive for results.

Working Conditions:

Heavy travel with extended stays may be required; most incumbents work from a remote location; a valid driver’s license and safe driving record are required.

Salary Information The national salary range for this position is $94,000.00 to $194,000.00. The expected starting salary range is $104,000.00 to $156,000.00.
