The Generation Team has an immediate opening for a
E&I Journeyman
at our
Redhawk Power Plant . The E&I Journeyman will support the safe, efficient and cost-effective production of electrical energy by performing Instrumentation and Electrical Maintenance work. Writes and reviews work scope and hazard/risk assessment of work assignments. May perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements

Read work orders, technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, Control Wiring Diagrams (CWDs) and other diagrams related to the work assignment. Enter and manipulate data in a maintenance computer system to record maintenance activity. Maintain instrumentation lists, parameters and settings. Use troubleshooting software such as Pi, DB Doc, CITECT and vendor internet sites for graphs and trends. Operate recorders, and use desktop and laptop computers. Inspect and test electrical and instrumentation equipment and circuits and analyze test data to identify malfunctions or defects using wiring diagrams and testing devices. Remove, disassemble, calibrate and maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment, controls, fixtures and appliances including digital and analog controls; tune and maintain on-line and off-line configurations on DCS, solid state circuits, process flows and controls, PLCs, interlocks, recorders and frequency generators, pneumatic and hydraulic actuators, positioners, pressure switches, flame scanners, control valves, dampers, thermocouples and RTDs, motors, batteries, battery chargers, UPS, gantry and overhead cranes, exciter brushes, grounding brushes, contactors and metering; use hand tools and power tools; cut, bend and thread pipe, tubing and conduit to specifications using pipe/cutter, bender and threader tools. Install, test, clean, remove, repair and troubleshoot medium and low voltage circuit breakers and related protective relay equipment and transformers. Set up, verify settings and interpret data from protective relays. Install, inspect and repair proper grounds on high voltage lines and transformers up to and including the generator. Maintain grounding grids, perform cadmium welds, install grounding trucks/breakers following all grounding and bonding procedures using live line tools such as shotguns, hot sticks, rubber gloves, rubber mats and blankets, and adhere to live/dead/live and arc flash procedures. Knowledge of APM and safety standards related to electrical and instrumentation maintenance such as grounding and bonding procedures, arc-flash protection, Possible Asbestos Containing Material procedures (PACM), MSDS, confined space entry, Company LOTO, PPE including face/hand/body protection, and use and care of voltage-rated rubber gloves; scaffold inspection, ladder safety, hazardous material handling and all material in the Accident Prevention Manual. Requires work to be performed in the field and/or at an APS facility. Depending on the responsibilities of the role, this may include working at a power plant, job site, or in the community. *Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need Eligibility
Must live or relocate within reasonable distance to the headquarters. Reasonable distance is defined as one (1) hour for Metro and State Region locations. Reasonable distance for Troublemen, Local Representatives, and Substation Technicians is defined as thirty (30) minutes for Metro locations and forty-five (45) minutes for State Region locations. Failure to accept a job offer due to the reasonable distance requirement specific to the position will be counted toward the bid restriction as described in Article 13, Section 11. For jobs in departments (System, Reliability, Hotstick) that require the majority of the work be performed out-of-town and as such, employees/crews are not required to report to the established headquarters unless directed by Leadership; the reasonable distance requirement will be waived. This will not apply to Troublemen, Local Representatives or Substation Technicians CIP Requirement: This position requires CIP access consistent with NERC standards. The applicant considered for this role will be required to obtain and maintain CIP access for the duration of employment.
