Location: Lakehurst, NJ
Full-time, Day shift, On-site 4 days a week, U.S. Citizen, DoD Secret clearance required
Travel up to 25%
Responsibilities
Lead design projects for small parts and complex mechanical systems, ensuring proper physical interface with the greater system. Analyze and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, generators, and large motors. Develop and interpret engineering drawings of complex parts and systems using CREO Parametric, applying best practices and proper geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Develop solid models of new or existing parts using CREO Parametric and engineering drawings. Execute test and troubleshooting procedures at test sites, manufacturing facilities, and aboard active and pre‑commissioned Navy vessels. Lead failure and root cause investigations, presenting recommendations to program leadership and implementing solutions through development of installation procedures. Respond to engineering information requests from manufacturing facilities, contractors, and shipyards. Analyze bolted joints and mechanical parts for suitability, considering fatigue and fracture life of equipment. Analyze parts requirements or installation parameters that fall outside specifications, providing recommendations and corrective actions. Assist with review and development of maintenance procedures, interpreting engineering specifications for structural materials, hardware, environmental testing, and equipment design standards. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Five (5) years or more of engineering experience, including mechanical design, development, and maintenance of turbomachinery or complex mechanical systems and machinery. Expertise in development, review, and geometric dimensioning and tolerance of engineering drawings. Proficiency with solid modeling using CREO Parametric (preferred) or other solid modeling program. Good understanding and practice of fatigue and fracture mechanics, failure and root cause analysis, and collection of quantitative empirical data. Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively with stakeholders and personnel of varying technical knowledge. Ability to function independently or cooperatively in a manufacturing, test, and shipboard environment with personnel from varying backgrounds. Desired Qualifications
Experience working aboard active naval vessels. Familiarity with the Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process. Familiarity with manufacturing processes including non‑destructive inspection (NDI) methods. Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to implement feedback from engineers, follow work instructions, and work somewhat independently. Required Clearance
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance to begin work. Travel
Travel up to 20% to test sites, manufacturing facilities, and active Navy vessels may be required. Benefits
