JOB SUMMARY: The Metal Fabricator will perform duties in the metal shop related to all aspects of metal fabrication, primarily involving welding processes. Responsibilities also include operating hand tools, assembling components, and using metal fabrication equipment like saws, drills, grinders, and forming tools. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work effectively in a team environment. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols. Create cut lists from drawing packages. Select appropriate welding and fabrication methods based on project requirements. Measure and mark out cutting and bending lines accurately. Set up and operate metalwork equipment including rollers, drill presses, mills, plasma cutters, brakes, and saws. Operate basic hand and powered hand tools such as drills and disc grinders. Follow instructions from supervisors and senior team members. Fabricate structural and non-structural metal assemblies. Finish products through grinding and polishing. Report progress and any issues to the Department Foreman. Monitor stock levels and report needs to the Foreman. Contribute to best practice discussions and process improvements. Assist in project prototyping and development. Install interior and exterior structures and fixtures. Collaborate with Field Operations to maintain high quality standards. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment. Provide training and knowledge sharing on job-specific tools to junior team members. Mechanical knowledge is an asset. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 5 years experience in metal fabrication or a similar trade. AWS Certification is an asset. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings. Motivated to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills. Team player with dedication.
