Reports To: Structural Superintendent
Summary
Remove, repair, overhaul, install, and align main propulsion machinery and associated equipment/components. Also, remove, repair, overhaul, install, and align equipment associated with auxiliary systems such as condensers, compressors, pumps, and other machinery. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Install and repair foundations for operating machinery and ship structures. Install, adjust, set, and repair control/regulating or safety devices. Install ship machinery such as propelling machinery, auxiliary motors, pumps, etc., using blueprints and hand tools. Install below-deck auxiliaries like evaporators, heaters, pumps, condensers, and connect them to steampipe systems. Test and inspect installed machinery during dock and sea trials. Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards. Maintain attention to detail and focus on tasks. Follow all safety and quality standards. Collaborate with team members to maximize productivity. Report unsafe conditions to supervisor. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Willingness to learn and dependable work ethic. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and diagrams. Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED. Working Conditions
Work within shipyard environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, weather, and machinery. Some travel required. Equipment Used
Hand tools, power tools. Reasonable Accommodations
