Job Description: Mechanical Drafter
Job Summary: A mechanical drafter creates detailed technical drawings and specifications for mechanical devices and systems, utilizing CAD software to support engineering and manufacturing processes. Responsibilities
Develop precise schematics and blueprints for mechanical devices, including dimensions, materials, and assembly instructions using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. Work closely with engineers and other professionals to understand design requirements and incorporate functionality into drawings. Revise and update existing designs to correct deficiencies or improve production efficiency. Analyze specifications, sketches, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and ensure compliance with engineering standards. Create three-dimensional models to visualize and simulate mechanical systems. Assist in testing and inspecting prototypes to ensure they meet design specifications and performance standards. Education/Experience Requirements
Associate degree in Drafting or equivalent marine or shipbuilding experience Minimum of 1-year experience in Mechanical Drafting or related field Experience with AutoCAD required. Experience with Rhino is a plus. Experience with 3D Solid modeling required, such as Solidworks, Catia, etc. Required Certifications And Training
RCRA/HAZCOM training according to 40 CFR 262 Mechanical Drafter reports to the Engineering Supervisor Seniority level
