Job Summary The Generator Mechanic/Service Technician using our company‑supplied vehicle will travel to the customer’s residence to perform repair work and preventative maintenance on the customer’s whole home standby generator. The level of electrical and mechanical repair knowledge, years of direct generator repair experience, and previous experience working directly with customers will all be taken into account when determining one’s starting pay level within this range. The position is currently part‑time which will be converted to full‑time based on service requests.

Responsibilities

Using company vehicle – travel to customer’s residence

Communicate directly with customers regarding arrival, work being performed, issues resolved, etc.

Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance on the customer’s home generator.

Follow technical instruction manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and procedures.

Test, troubleshoot, and operate automatic transfer switches.

Document services performed using an electronic software system.

Adhere to all safety practices and requirements.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Active Generac generator certification

Strong experience doing maintenance work on generators and repairs.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Ability to drive company vehicles safely to each customer’s residence within and surrounding area.

Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal and written).

Reading and comprehension skills to understand technical manuals, electrical wiring diagrams, and blueprints.

Physical ability to perform job duties including bending, stooping, climbing ladders, pulling, grasping, and walking on uneven surfaces.
