Port Orange, City of (FL)
This position is responsible for skilled work in the maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Repair and maintain water/wastewater plants, reuse pumping facilities, potable water pump stations, potable water wells, storm water lift stations, reclaimed water pump stations, reclaimed water augmentation wells and reclaimed water augmentation lift stations
Maintain and repair all related equipment such as centrifugal pumps, chlorinators, gear boxes, pneumatic controls, electric motors, proportional chemical feed equipment, high service pumps, pressure control valves, flow meters, auxiliary power units, 3 phase power control panels, variable frequency drives, electronic level monitoring systems, telemetry control equipment, etc.
Inspect facilities and equipment such as potable pumping stations, wellfields, reclaimed water storage facilities, reuse augmentation equipment and irrigation equipment
Maintain a schedule of preventive maintenance program
Maintain a log of repairs to equipment
Work with contractors, vendors, and engineers on plant upgrades and major expansion projects
Obtain prices and complete requisitions to order parts
Maintain spare parts inventory
Maintain test well level program and logs
Perform related work as required. These additional duties may be representative of tasks typically performed by those in a lesser or more advanced job grade
This position is part of the City’s Emergency Management Team and, as such, shall be expected to perform all duties that are assigned during an emergency management operation.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Five (5) years experience in operation, maintenance and repair of treatment plant equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Water Distribution System Operator License Level 3 or Wastewater Collection System Operator Certification Level C preferred.
Knowledge of the functions and servicing requirements of mechanical equipment and machinery
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret work related documents.
Ability to write correspondence, memos, and other documentation in standard English text
Ability to respond to various parties in a courteous and professional manner, regardless of the circumstances.
Ability to effectively present information in written and oral format to individuals
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic mathematical concepts related to this position.
Ability to follow and interpret instructions furnished in written and oral format.
Ability to identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions that are in accordance with laws, ordinances, and established principles.
