Mobile Diesel Technician Level II The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, and electronic diagnostics in a mobile/field environment. This role works under the supervision of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician or higher and continues to learn advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques.
DUTIES
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Make minor adjustments and repairs on varied truck equipment, such as electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, and air‑conditioning systems.
Inspect, test, and analyze defective equipment using handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
Identify problems, assess information accuracy, and generate solutions using sound judgment.
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate the company truck, conducting safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
Work effectively with clients and customers, providing information and resolving issues.
Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time efficiently.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
Document work using iOS devices and the TRAIT application, including photos of work performed.
Complete DOT forms and other required documentation accurately and promptly.
Operate independently and manage your daily schedule.
Maintain high productivity and meet standard repair times.
Source parts from approved vendors as needed.
Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimates and purchase order numbers.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Maintain the company truck and perform daily inspections.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED plus 3 years of related experience; alternative combinations such as a degree/certification or 5+ years of experience are acceptable.
Possess and supply a hand tool kit necessary for job duties.
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).
Be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations.
Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
Must have a Class C license.
