The 38th District Court is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Court Clerk/Cashier. This position involves processing court-related financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing administrative support to the court. Performs basic, routine, clerical tasks related to criminal, civil, traffic cases, record keeping, processing and maintaining documents, reports, files, and correspondence, and other duties assigned by the Chief Judge, Court Administrator or Supervisor.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to handle sensitive information with integrity and professionalism.
Essential Job Functions
Process payments for fines, costs fees, and other court-related transactions via cash, credit card,and certifiedfunds. Accurately reconcile and balance cash drawersdaily. Maintain records of all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with court policies andprocedures. Provide assistance to the public at the cashier’s window, answering questions related to fines, fees, and caseinformation. Assist with clerical duties, including filing, data entry, and casemanagement. Communicate effectively with court staff, attorneys, and thepublic. Prepare reports and ensure all financial data is accurately recorded in the court’s managementsystem. Handle confidential information with discretion and in accordance with courtpolicies. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Court Administrator orSupervisor. Print daily generated notices Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required, one (1) or two (2) years of education beyond highschool preferred along with course work in accounting, finance, or a related fieldpreferred. Prior experience in cashiering, bookkeeping, or a clerical role, preferably in a legal orgovernment setting. JIS experiencepreferred. Proficiency with computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office and financialmanagement systems. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling andrecord-keeping. Excellent customer service and communication skills, both in person and over thephone. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmostprofessionalism. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Physical Demands and Work Environment
