Maintenance Supervisor

is an advanced-level position within the Maintenance Department and is a key member of the plant leadership team. The Maintenance Supervisor directs and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems. This role also supports continuous improvement initiatives including safety audits, quality, process improvements, employee training, and skill development.

Accountabilities:

Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.

Reviews work orders to determine work priorities.

Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.

Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.

Develops ongoing Preventative Maintenance Programs.

Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.

Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports to plan and modify maintenance activities.

Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and optimize labor and material utilization.

Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.

Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.

Directs training of workers to improve work performance.

Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend improvements.

Prepares department budget and monitors expenditures.

Communicates problems or changes in department to Maintenance Manager.

Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Participates in continuous improvement initiatives.

Supervises assigned maintenance mechanics and ensures adherence to policies, training, performance appraisals, and safety standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises assigned maintenance mechanics. Responsibilities include hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Managers are responsible for cultivating attitudes favorable to affirmative action programs and ensuring equal employment opportunities.

Representation: Must provide professional representation of McCain mission and values both inside and outside the organization. Must adhere to the McCain Code of Conduct.

Scope of Authority:

Hires, disciplines, and approves pay levels for employees in consultation with Engineering Manager and HR.

Authority to enforce McCain policies and procedures.

Authority to schedule and edit time for Maintenance Employees.

Authority to start and stop equipment in the factory for safety, maintenance, and repair issues.

Responsible for monitoring work areas and reporting any security or safety concerns.

Authority to ensure safety of employees, products, and equipment.

Responsible for maintaining high cleanliness standards in the facility.

Authority to report and/or eliminate hazards affecting food safety.

Education And Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and management.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, volume, and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk. Frequently required to stand and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste or smell.

Regularly lifts/moves up to 10 pounds; frequently lifts/moves up to 25 pounds; occasionally lifts/moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters performing the essential functions. Employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. Noise level is usually loud.

Compensation Package: $80,000 - $95,000 USD annually + Bonus eligibility.
