Transdev in Savannah, GA is seeking an experienced A-Level Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, and longevity of diesel-powered assets. Key Responsibilities
Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on diesel engines. Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs. Complete preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections. Lead diagnostic tests to identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel engines. Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing skills and knowledge. Other duties as required. Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic. Required CDL A/B or must obtain within 3 months of employment. Masters ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided or must obtain within 6 months of employment. Mechanic’s tool set. Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed. Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis. Physical Requirements
Work outside in varying temperatures, weather, and humidity; 100% of the job is performed outside, including work in remote locations. Sit for extended periods; frequently walk long distances on possible sloped, slippery, or uneven surfaces. Push/pull objects up to 50 pounds; lift up to 50 lbs; may bend, kneel, or crouch to access equipment. Ability to tolerate heavy traffic areas and exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise. Compensation and Benefits
Competitive hourly pay: minimum $40.52 to $43.02 per hour. Night and weekend shift differential pay. Vacation: minimum of two weeks; Holidays: 10 days (8 standard and 2 floating). 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short-term and voluntary long-term disability; company-paid ASE testing, training materials, and tool reimbursement.
