General Summary The Quality Mechanical Inspector is responsible for inspecting precision machined components and assemblies to ensure they meet customer and internal specifications. This role performs first article, in-process, and final inspections using both manual and automated tools, while supporting production and quality teams in maintaining consistent standards. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, experienced with CMM and GD&T, and committed to quality and accountability in a precision manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities Inspection

Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of machined parts and assemblies.

Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and indicators.

Operate and program coordinate measuring machines (CMM).

Inspect incoming raw materials and components from outside processing.

Ensure inspections are completed accurately and documented on travelers, reports, and logs.

Support nonconformance investigations and communicate quality issues to the shop supervisor or lead.

Quality Support

Interpret and apply GD&T standards to inspection tasks and communication.

Review and interpret engineering drawings, control plans, and customer specifications.

Support quality system improvements by maintaining proper documentation and inspection records in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.

Assist with internal audits and preparation for external quality audits.

Safety & Workplace Organization

Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized inspection area.

Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order and report issues as needed.

Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications Required

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum of 5 years of inspection experience in a machining environment.

Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.

Knowledge of basic Inspection tools, including verniers, Micrometers, height Gauge, Optical Comparator, etc.

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).

Ability to work independently while maintaining open communication with the team.

Preferred

Experience operating and programming a CMM.

Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and quality system documentation.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and handle materials up to 35 lbs.

Standing for extended periods and working with precision inspection tools.

Ability to visually inspect small components and operate computer-based inspection equipment.

Manual dexterity and fine motor skills required for tool handling and measurement tasks.
