Maintain Reliability and Support Safe, Efficient Cement Production Capitol Aggregates is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Plant Mechanic to support our Cement Division in San Antonio, Texas. This essential role is responsible for performing mechanical maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure safe and reliable operation of equipment across the facility. What You’ll Do
Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on cement plant equipment including pumps, compressors, conveyors, and fans.
Use precision tools to ensure accurate alignment, torque, and tension when repairing or installing parts.
Follow detailed work orders and proactively inspect surrounding areas for additional issues.
Complete tasks according to best‑demonstrated practices with a focus on safety and quality.
Communicate job findings and updates to supervisors, including documentation of parts used and potential improvements.
Maintain a clean work area, follow plant schedules, and participate in area audits and inspections.
Follow all company and MSHA safety regulations while working in varied environmental conditions.
Support plant operations by reducing equipment downtime and improving equipment reliability.
What You’ll Bring Required Skills and Abilities
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using industrial hand tools and measuring instruments.
Basic welding and oxy‑acetylene cutting skills.
Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
Forklift operation experience and understanding of safe work practices.
Team‑oriented attitude with a willingness to learn and communicate effectively.
Education And Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing setting.
Prior experience as a Maintenance Technician or Lubricator Technician is helpful.
Other Qualifications
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in varied weather and terrain.
Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in loud or dusty environments.
Familiarity with personal protective equipment and safe industrial work procedures.
