Laborer Department: Construction

Reports To: Construction Manager

Employment Status: Hourly (Non-exempt)

Primary Location: Rice Lake, WI – Travel will be required throughout the Midwest

Pay Range: TBD

Salary will be determined based on skills & experience, and equity to other employees in similar roles.

Job Summary: The Laborer works on construction sites and cleans sites, removes hazards, loads/unloads materials, and operates tools/equipment to complete tasks.

Job Responsibilities

Attend and participate in morning and afternoon safety/huddle meetings as needed.

Operate various tamping machines per specifications.

Inspect machines and assist with daily maintenance.

Assist with loading, unloading, and preparing jobsite materials.

Maintain a neat and clean work area.

Inspect and operate hand tools for various activities.

Assist the operator with excavation of trenches, placement of shoring and backfilling procedures.

Dig entry and exit pits.

Placement of conduit in open trenches.

Proofing conduits.

Potholing existing utilities.

Assist with rigging and setting of structures.

Forming and pouring of concrete.

Prep and placement of asphalt.

Maintain safety of company vehicles and ensure optimal utilization.

Ensure compliance with customer requirements and completion of activities.

Observe and promote safety compliance.

Complete required safety training annually.

Report injuries and other accidents to the foreman.

Assist coworkers in keeping site clean and organized at the end of each shift.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

High school or equivalent education.

Valid Driver’s license.

Reliable transportation to various job sites in the area.

Subject to pre-employment background check, drug test, and MVR.

Subject to random drug screenings.

Ability to follow instruction.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with crew, leadership, and clients.

Strong understanding of safety procedures and policies.

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Excellent vision or use of prescription lenses.

Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods in unfavorable weather conditions.

Willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends.

Willing to work in inclement weather.

Willing to work at heights.

Desired Skills and Qualifications (but not necessary)

Previous experience and knowledge of underground utility construction.

Experience operating small equipment and hand tools.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able and willing to work outdoors in inclement weather.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.

Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing 40 to 90 pounds.

Must maintain visual and audible contact with other crew to ensure safe coordination.

Must safely operate company vehicles or work around heavy equipment and machinery.

Must stand or walk for long periods.

Must stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl while performing work.

Must ascend and descend ladders.

Must work in small/confined areas.

Must wear safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and applicable safety gear.

Minimum Required Licenses/Certificates/Registrations

Valid driver’s license.

OSHA 10.

Utility Locator Department: Construction

Job Summary: Utility Locators drive company vehicles to job sites and use digital utility maps and specialized equipment to locate underground cables, pipes, and other utilities to prevent damage and ensure safety.

Job Responsibilities

Utilizes mapping tools and locating equipment to locate underground utilities including electric and gas utilities, telephone, and other communication lines.

Indicates utility locations through paint and flags.

Represents Congruex in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use.

Perform duties in standard and high-risk areas.

Safely and successfully perform duties all year round.

Perform physical tasks required to successfully complete day-to-day operations.

Travel overnight to various sites as requested.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Valid Driver’s License (unrestricted).

Pass a pre-employment drug test and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Basic computer skills.

At least 2 years of recent experience in underground utility locating.

Ability to operate all equipment safely and productively.

Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Function effectively as an integral part of a team.

Meet physical demands – lift and/or move 50 to 150 pounds as well as stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ miles) over uneven terrain.

Ability to perform all work outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able and willing to work outdoors, subject to inclement weather.

Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.

Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery.

Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.

Must be able to stand, walk, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time.

Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear.

Required Licenses/Certificates/Registrations

OSHA 10.

CDL Preferred.
