Education/Certification : High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s in Accounting or related field preferred Nice to Have
CPA, EA, or RTRP designation is a plus Experience
Minimum 1 year of hands-on tax preparation experience Experience with individual, partnership, corporate, and/or trust returns Client-facing or interview-based intake experience preferred Skills
Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, Drake, ProSeries, UltraTax) Familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus Excellent communication and client service skills Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure Compliance
Must meet all IRS and state tax preparer requirements and maintain active registration Key Responsibilities
Conduct client interviews and collect relevant income and deduction data Prepare and review individual, partnership, corporate, and trust returns Analyze documents such as W-2s, 1099s, and K-1s to ensure accuracy and maximize deductions Coordinate with senior staff for return reviews and accuracy checks Assist clients with IRS/state filings, audit responses, and correspondence Stay current on tax law changes and assist with planning for complex returns Maintain strong client relationships and support additional firm services Provide seasonal coverage (25-35 hours/week), up to 40 hours/week during peak periods Seniority level
