Provides direct one‑on‑one behavioral interventions to teach communication, social, academic, and daily living skills and reduce problematic behaviors home, community, and school settings to children with mental, emotional, and social well‑being challenges. Collaborate with family and serve as a liaison between community, local school districts and outpatient treatment teams to provide treatment. Participates in outreach activities to promote children mental, emotional, and social well‑being programs throughout Jackson County. Learn, understand, and teach evidence‑based curriculums: Youth Mental Health First Aid and Teen Mental Health First Aid to youth, families, and community members. Facilitate and assist in developing youth peer counseling programs throughout Region XVI. Attend staffing on a regular basis throughout Jackson County, discuss appropriate cases with clinicians and provide consultation/referrals on cases within the county. Always maintains client confidentiality. Provides community support services in compliance with DMH standards. Documents appropriate activities in case note format that justify the need for treatment. Completes and submits service logs according to the agency policy. Maintains case record documentation that is adequate, appropriate, complete, and timely. Attends and participates appropriately in clinical staffing. Respond to clients’ needs in an appropriate and timely manner. Demonstrates appropriate interactions with coworkers that promote a pleasant work environment. Completes additional job duties assigned by supervisor. Participates in interagency collaboration for the provision of client services when assigned. Serves as a lead or back‑up emergency on‑call person when requested to do so (annually at a minimum).
Experience & Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or related field. Eligible for Community Support Specialist certification through the Mississippi Department of Mental Health. Working knowledge of the DSM. Satisfactory completion of CPR prior to reporting to the work site. Satisfactory completion of CPI within 30 days of employment. Valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance. Ability to transport clients in private vehicles when necessary. Completion of annual training in compliance with DMH standards. DMH certification within 30 days of hire and maintained throughout duration of employment.
Preferred
Previous experience in a mental health setting strongly preferred. Previous experience working with an SMI/SED in a treatment setting strongly preferred.
