Summary of Job Duties
Develop and lead a nationally recognized extension and applied research program in weed control in turfgrass, vegetation, and forage management.
Provide 75% extension and 25% research appointment responsibilities.
Develop and implement extension education programs that positively impact Arkansas turfgrass industries and forage management, including golf courses, sports fields, sod, lawn care, forages, and roadside management.
Provide training, collaboration, and support to strengthen local county extension agents and programs.
Develop a targeted problem‑solving applied research program and exercise effective grantsmanship in support of extension and research efforts.
Travel extensively within Arkansas and collaborate with interdisciplinary faculty, county extension agents, growers, and industry personnel on best management systems and sustainability.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Weed Science, Turfgrass Science, Horticulture, or a highly related field; excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in horticultural extension and applied research; experience in weed management, particularly in turfgrass systems; experience in team collaboration and leadership; experience in effective grantsmanship; experience with diverse stakeholders.
