Overview The Intake Specialist is an experienced member who assists and manages the referral intake process for AristaCare Health. The role requires multitasking, ensuring patients have adequate insurance or payor coverage for infusion services, and effectively communicating information to the AristaCare Health team.
Responsibilities
Communicate the referral source (clinical liaison, discharge planner, medical social worker, clinic nurse) and the patient’s insurance benefits/coverage, including non‑coverage for requested services.
Effectively communicate with insurance companies, referral sources, patients and families about the proposed treatment plan and available options for a positive financial outcome.
Obtain all necessary authorizations from the patient’s insurance provider and document the information in the AristaCare Health system, notifying the team when a referral is ready to be serviced.
Participate in the Patient "Referral Huddle Process," reviewing each pending referral and ensuring all required information is obtained.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines regarding patient information.
Maintain positive relationships with internal and external staff.
Assist referral sources with arrangements for medical supplies, appliances or nursing services needed for safe transition into the home setting or Ambulatory Infusion Suite.
Communicate with Marketing, Account Executives and Pharmacy Staff about promotional and educational programs related to insurance plans.
Complete all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (Education Requirement).
One year of intake experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the home health care field.
Basic knowledge of the insurance approval/authorization process.
Special Conditions Of Employment
Drug test.
Initial and ongoing exclusion and sanction/disciplinary monitoring.
Any and all additional eligibility requirements based on the specific position.
Job Skills Required
Exceptional attention to detail, strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
Effective internal and external communication via phone and email.
Strong PC skills with focus on Excel proficiency.
Ability to work independently.
