Our client is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial
Commercial Underwriter
to help build and grow their
Management Liability portfolio
across the West Coast. This role will focus on
Directors & Officers (D&O), Errors & Omissions (E&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Fiduciary, and Kidnap & Ransom (K&R)
lines, working exclusively with
wholesale brokers . As an individual contributor, you will be instrumental in underwriting new business, strengthening broker relationships, and setting the foundation for long-term regional growth. Key Responsibilities: Underwrite new and renewal business within delegated authority, with a focus on profitability and growth in the management liability segment Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with
wholesale brokers , including regular travel, in-person meetings, and client entertainment to drive new business opportunities Evaluate financials, risk exposures, and coverage needs across a wide range of industry sectors Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and appetite Collaborate with internal teams including claims, actuarial, legal, and senior underwriting leadership to craft innovative solutions for complex risks Contribute to strategic planning and provide feedback on market trends, competitive activity, and underwriting performance Participate in industry events and conferences to raise visibility and support brand development on the West Coast Qualifications: 3+ years of underwriting experience with a focus on
management liability lines
(D&O, E&O, EPL, etc.) Proven success working with
wholesale brokers
(not retail) and building strong distribution relationships Deep knowledge of underwriting principles, financial analysis, and policy language specific to executive liability products Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the company externally Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to thrive in a remote and entrepreneurial environment This is a
remote
position based out of
San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Denver , offering flexible travel throughout the West Coast. For the right candidate, this role has the potential to
grow into a team leadership position
