Are you passionate about helping families in your community stay warm and financially secure? Capstone Community Action is seeking two Energy & Outreach Specialists (Barre and Lamoille) to provide direct support to individuals and families experiencing financial or energy‑related crises. Joining Capstone means you’ll be part of a team that’s making a real difference in Central Vermont, empowering individuals, supporting families, and strengthening communities. Since 1965, Capstone has supported individuals and families in achieving economic and housing stability and rising out of poverty.
Position:
The Energy & Outreach Specialist supports individuals and families experiencing financial or energy‑related crises. This position provides hands‑on assistance with emergency fuel and utility needs, promotes energy conservation, and helps community members with resources to foster economic stability. The ideal candidate is empathetic, detail‑oriented, and passionate about helping others.
You’ll work closely with a supportive team while building strong relationships with community partners and participants.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related human services field or equivalent experience, plus four years in human services preferred.
Knowledge of human service systems, domestic violence issues, adult development, and Central Vermont's service networks.
Sensitivity to issues impacting individuals and families living in poverty.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Reliable transportation, valid Vermont driver’s license, and access to a home phone.
Compensation & Benefits This is a full‑time (40 hours/week) position with a Monday‑Friday schedule between the hours of 8:00 am‑4:30 pm, offering competitive pay at $21.76 to $25.47/hour and generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits.
