Educational and Experience Requirement
Associates degree in business, management, finance, accounting, marketing, or a related field is required, along with three years of experience in higher education, financial services, or a similar area. Preferred qualifications include experience with financial literacy education, counseling, presentations, and organizing events or programs in a college setting. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Oversees and supports the Student Money Management peer counseling program, ensuring smooth coordination of its daily operations. Plays a key role in planning and executing educational programming, workshops, and special events hosted by the Student Money Management department.
Primary Responsibilities
Coordinates and maintains Student Money Management (SMM) peer counseling program.
Plans and delivers presentations, workshops, and seminars on personal finance topics for the university community.
Provides one-on-one financial counseling to SHSU students.
Organizes and leads trainings, meetings, and events related to SMM.
Develops and implements services, programs, policies, promotions, and online outreach.
Manages scheduling and logistics for educational events and special initiatives.
Creates and executes marketing plans to promote SMM services.
Represents the department in internal and external meetings and presentations.
Assists with drafting grant proposals and evaluating the impact of educational efforts.
Supports the hiring and training of student employees.
Performs other related duties as assigned, including occasional evening and weekend work to support programming and special events.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Contact with students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni, parents, corporate and public officials, state agencies, and the general public. Attends workshops and conferences to improve knowledge of personal finance.
