Assembly

Work under the direction of the Assembly Supervisor or his/her designee and be familiar with all operations within this department. Work with other departments on all items to improve operational sequences. Assembly functions include but are not limited to any and/or all of the following, depending on experience: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Read blueprints/specifications, drawings, and flat layouts. Fit parts together and fasten them to cabinets. Bolt, staple, or screw parts together, using hand tools, such as pliers, wrenches, pneumatic screwdrivers, drills. Insert parts such as casters and scuff plates into holes or slots. Bend fastening devices and fit interlocking parts together with a hammer or rubber mallet or by striking parts against the floor or workbench. Apply touch-up paint to cabinets using a brush or spray gun. Pack cabinets for shipment. Unload powder coat line. Keep work area clean. Help on the small powder line when needed. Work in other areas of the shop when needed. Check parts to ensure they are not scratched, dented, or have any other flaws. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Customer and vendor contact. Move material with hand truck or fork truck. Complete related paperwork (time cards, job tickets, quality check sheets). Perform maintenance work. Perform other incidental functions related to the classification and those created by changes in methods/procedures, as well as equipment. Basic computer skills are an advantage but not necessary. (Training will be provided.) REQUIREMENTS: Read, understand, and follow English written and oral instructions. Frequent physical functions include standing, walking, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Physical effort is required for frequent lifting, up to 50 lbs. on a regular daily basis. Observe plant work rules. Acceptable attendance performance, including overtime, is necessary. Strict adherence to safety practices, including the use of safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, or other protective gear as required.
