Description Job Overview The Banquet Server is responsible for providing friendly and efficient service of food and beverage items to all guests in a banquet setting situation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Meets and exceeds customer expectations

Communicates effectively with customers, co-workers and supervisors

Provides the highest quality of service at all times to guests

Must be able to read a BEO and know how to complete a setup

Sets tables in assigned area (or checks to see that they have been set) correctly and uniformly, using: clean, pressed linen without rips, stains or tears; clean unspotted silverware; clean china with no chips or cracks; clean unspotted glassware

Properly cleans and fills table complements (salt and pepper, sugar, bread baskets, etc.)

Pours wine with the method shown in training

Knows the menu for each function served and is able to knowledgeably explain the major ingredients and preparation methods for each item to be served

Keeps station neat and clean during service.

Constantly patrols assigned station, refilling water and coffee, removing service items and condiments per established policies and procedures; Checks on the guests

Serves food, coffee, water and other beverages to customers, refills beverages as needed

Receives customer orders for any food or beverage that varies from the set menu

Refers complaints on food and/or service to the Banquet Manager

Cleans banquet rooms and banquet areas during and after banquet functions

Uses proper in-room clearing and aisle tray breakdown procedures

Returns all reusable table complements and condiments to be cleaned and refilled

Additional duties as necessary and assigned

Job Requirements (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)

High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within six (6) months from start date as a condition of continued employment

Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older

One (1) year experience in a full service restaurant or banquet environment- required

Ability to adequately and successfully perform all aspects of this position including the set up and cleaning of the room

Must successfully pass job interview, including a guest service audition

Must possess a high level of maturity, dependability, and punctuality

Demonstrated ability to communicate, in English, effectively both verbally and in writing

Must successfully complete Responsible Vendor Alcoholic Beverage Service, and BASSET training

Must successfully complete ServeSafe Sanitation training

Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 40lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift

Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware and menu items

Ability to stand, walk and move about during entire shift

Ability to push/pull food carts and equipment weighing up to 250lbs

Willing and able to work odd or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required

Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position

Must have willingness and ability to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment

Base Pay

Pay range - $9.00 - $14.30 (The base pay will depend factors such as experience level and skillset.)
