Position:
Human Resources Specialist
– Lewiston, Maine
SeniorsPlus is seeking a full‑time Human Resources Specialist to support the agency’s mission to assist older adults and adults with disabilities. This role plays a vital part in ensuring smooth day‑to‑day HR functions, maintaining compliance, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Responsibilities
Perform various HR functions with minimal supervision, following established procedures.
Provide backup support to the CHRO as needed, including during absences.
Collaborate with all employee levels and with insurance carriers, agents, and brokerage representatives.
Assist in employee benefits and enrollment orientation; process documentation for benefit initiation, changes, and terminations.
Help with claims processing and overall benefits management, and administer the COBRA program.
Maintain accurate, confidential employee personnel files.
Work with the Payroll Administrator to verify timecards, track benefit time, and record payroll information.
Assist the recruiter in conducting recruitment efforts for exempt and nonexempt positions and write job advertisements as a backup.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Human Resources or related business field and 1–2 years HR generalist experience.
OR 5+ years of direct human resource experience.
OR any similar combination of education and experience.
Valid driver’s license.
