Construction Inspector / Construction Services
Location: New York, NY
Salary: $45-70+/hour (commensurate with level of experience)
Responsibilities
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and any special requirements.
Working knowledge of mathematics with the ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to field measure quantities and calculate quantities of completed work to recommend payment to the contractor for items of work.
Ability to prepare clear and concise Daily Inspection Reports to document the work performed; the manpower, material, and equipment used; field measure and calculate quantities of work completed and other pertinent information.
Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment.
Good oral and written communication skill.
Requirements
Minimum of two years’ related experience for Level II Inspector (or Level III/IV with 5/10 years).
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or NICET Certification.
Working knowledge of highway and/or bridge construction methods, materials, standards, and specifications.
American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Testing certification (preferred).
Work Zone Traffic Control certifications (preferred).
10-hour OSHA Construction Safety Training certification.
Experience with NYSDOT and/or NYC Dept. of Design & Construction preferred, depending on the project.
Experience with NYSDOT SiteManager reporting software for DOT projects (preferred).
Experience with NYCDOT and/or NYCDDC (preferred).
Good writing and communication skills.
