Managing Attorney — Estate Planning & Probate
For a Growing, Values-Driven Law Firm | San Antonio, TX
We are seeking a high-performing Managing Attorney who pairs strong legal and leadership skills with grounded confidence and a human-centered approach —and who is ready to step into a key role on our executive team.
You’ll guide a talented team of attorneys and paralegals while maintaining a focused, high-quality legal practice of your own.
The ideal candidate sees legal leadership as both a responsibility and a craft: someone who elevates others, models the standard, and thrives in an environment where expectations are high and relationships matter.
Role, Schedule & Structure Leadership + Casework:
Full-time role based in our San Antonio office
Executive Team Membership:
Serve on the firm’s executive leadership team, contributing to strategic decisions and firmwide direction
Team Oversight:
Lead, mentor, and support a team of
attorneys
Client Engagement:
Maintain your own caseload, conduct consultations, and continue closing confidently
Strategy & Development:
Participate in firmwide planning, process improvement, and growth initiatives
Flexibility:
Occasional evenings/weekends for networking, client events, or training
Your work will span leadership, mentorship, case strategy, client communication, business development, and fostering a high-trust, high-performance team.
This Role Centers Around Four Core Pillars 1. Leadership & Judgment This position calls for clear judgment, steady leadership, and the confidence to guide both clients and a legal team. We’re seeking someone who:
Makes clear, timely decisions that support clients and the firm
Creates structure, consistency, and accountability for the team
Models professionalism and emotional intelligence
Can give and receive feedback respectfully
Adapts quickly without sacrificing quality
You understand how to guide multiple attorneys, navigate competing deadlines, and maintain calm leadership when the caseload is heavy or client emotions are high.
2. Expertise & Excellence in Practice Your legal skill will still be front and center. You’ll maintain a strong personal caseload and continue to be a top performer in client consultations and courtroom representation. You:
Are deeply competent in Estate Planning & Probate (Guardianship certification or eligibility required)
Draft and review documents with precision and clarity
Confidently represent clients in hearings, mediations, and complex matters
Communicate legal concepts in a way that clients feel safe, informed, and empowered
Consistently close new client engagements with warmth and confidence
Board Certification
or active pursuit of it is a significant advantage.
3. Team Development & Collaboration This role is as much about people as it is about law. You’ll help shape the growth, stability, and culture of the entire legal team. You:
Provide coaching, training, and case guidance to attorneys
Support with structure, clarity, and reliable communication
Facilitate team meetings, case reviews, and process improvements
Contribute to recruiting, onboarding, and long-term team development
Foster a culture of accountability paired with kindness and professionalism
You are someone who naturally elevates those around you.
4. Growth, Strategy & Firm Stewardship You understand that a great law firm is built intentionally—through systems, consistency, and continuous improvement. You:
Participate in leadership conversations with insight and initiative
Identify areas where processes can improve and help implement solutions
Contribute to business development and community reputation
Bring ideas while respecting structure
Care about long-term firm success just as much as daily results
Your leadership directly shapes the future of the firm.
