Kauhale Otsego is a vibrant Assisted Living and Memory Care community in Otsego, Michigan. We are looking to hire a full-time Cook to join our team. A cook assists the Dietary Director in meeting the nutritional food requirements of our residents as well as to meet standards of cleanliness and food preparation required by state and federal laws. Qualifications

Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly. Must meet all health requirements and pass background checks. Must be able to work weekend and Holiday hours if needed. Ability to read and follow recipes, labels and policies and procedures. Must maintain sanitation in the kitchen area. Meet the physical job demands of the position. Ability to make simple calculations and follow oral and written directions. Must demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as a team member as well as an individual. Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow multiple directions, prioritize and multi-task routinely. High School diploma or GED Residential/Commercial cooking experience of 1 year or more. At least one year cooking experience preferred. Responsibilities

Prepares food daily as outlined on the menus. Alters or adapts recipes to accommodate special dietary needs of residents or to improve recipes. Ensures proper handling, preparation, coordination and production of breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, as well as cold food, meat & poultry and baking details. Plan, coordinate and complete the preparation, cooking and serving of meals/snacks to ensure the nutritional needs of the residents are met. Prepare, cook, bake, and serve food following appropriate guidelines, menus, recipes, and recommendations of the Dietary Manager. Follows specially prepared menus and production sheets to maintain the highest possible quality and consistency. Ensures attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving. Record temperature checks and report concerns for food, dishwasher, cooler and freezer as directed. Compliance with all record keeping, food safety and risk management in accordance with Federal, State and Involve the resident/family in planning culinary service programs when possible. Make supportive visits to residents to determine and monitor their likes and dislikes on an on-going basis. Ensures snacks, coffee or appetizers are available for guest/visitors. Participate in Resident Council meetings as warranted. Accepts responsibility of various kitchen staff roles & functions including covering for Dietary Manager in their absence. Report any problems with equipment, food, recipes, and chemicals used for cleaning to the Dietary Manager. Report to work on time, properly dressed according to employee handbook. Salary

Full-time or part-time as hired and/or scheduled. Works weekends and holidays as scheduled, every/other weekend rotation. Work Location
