Responsibilities
Perform day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Follow work/cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
Report all accidents/incidents to supervisor.
Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services during routine assignments in resident living areas.
Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.
Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving heavy objects.
Maintain assigned work areas clean, safe, and sanitary (e.g., dryer lint traps).
Use proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions, referencing MSDSs as needed.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling infectious materials.
Inform supervisor of supply needs.
Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions (spills, excess laundry carts, baskets, supplies, equipment, etc.).
Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc., as necessary or directed.
Ensure equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of each shift.
Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established laundry procedures.
During emergency conditions, ensure clean laundry, linen, garments, etc. are distributed to designated areas as instructed.
Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information, and report any incidents of unauthorized disclosure.
Qualifications
Maintain care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain appearance of laundry areas for sanitation, order, and safety.
Follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, and cleaning instructions.
Be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
