POSITION PURPOSE
As a Chemist at Bayport Laboratories you will be responsible for formulating, developing, and testing cosmetic products that meet both regulatory standards and market demands. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry, a passion for beauty and skincare, and the ability to contribute to the creation of high-quality cosmetic formulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Formulation Development: Design and develop cosmetic formulations, including skincare, hair care, and color cosmetics, considering factors such as product performance, stability, and safety.
Ingredient Research: Stay current with industry trends and emerging ingredients, conducting research to identify innovative and effective components for cosmetic products.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all formulations comply with relevant regulations and industry standards, working closely with regulatory affairs to meet global requirements.
Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing of prototypes and finished products to ensure efficacy, stability, and safety. Collaborate with quality control to establish and maintain product quality standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, manufacturing, and quality control, to ensure a smooth transition from formulation development to production.
Problem-solving: Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to product formulation, stability, or performance, ensuring timely resolution of challenges.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of formulations, experiments, and testing results. Prepare and update product specifications, technical documentation, and regulatory submissions as needed.
Innovation: Drive continuous improvement and innovation in product formulations, keeping abreast of new technologies and scientific advancements in the cosmetic industry.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor's, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: • Familiarity with regulatory standards including cGMP, FDA, and ISO 22716 (2007) • Strong knowledge of cosmetic raw materials, ingredient interactions, and formulation techniques. • Knowledge of analytical techniques used in cosmetic testing. • Familiarity with sustainability and green chemistry principles (preferred)
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • Proven experience in cosmetic formulation development.(5 years) • Experience with cosmetic product scale-up and manufacturing processes.(Preferred)
