Position Summary The Scholastic Bowl Head Coach will organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise scholastic bowl team members. The head coach will organize approved fundraisers throughout the year to meet the club’s expenses, coordinate with the conference a schedule for competing, and add additional competitions as needed throughout the season. The team will compete in the IHSA Scholastic Bowl series. Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities Initiate and solicit student participation and awareness of scholastic bowl. Schedule, attend, and supervise all practices, keeping records of attendance and student participation. Monitor the supervision of participants during all practices and meets. Work with the Director of Activities and Athletics to schedule events and travel, and assist with hosting events. Understand school, conference, and IHSA rules. Attend conference meetings and cooperate with other coaches. Attend mini-bus training and follow all safety procedures when transporting students. Recruit and train timers and moderators for home contests. Arrange and schedule practices. Work positively with students, faculty, and staff, and communicate regularly with administration about the team’s progress. Manage the budget, keep accurate financial records, and follow fundraising policies. Recruit student participants annually. Request room space for meetings and manage facility use during activities and events. Ensure student transportation home and supervise students until last release. Promote and publicize meetings and events. Engage students in community service activities. Maintain respectful interactions with students and adults. Collaborate with administration to align with strategic goals. Use appropriate channels to resolve concerns. Complete all required training and certifications. Perform other duties as assigned. Work with community members to enhance programs, mentor students, and support fundraisers and community activities. Assist with writing college recommendation letters upon request. Communicate student achievements to the activity director for publicity. Length of Season:
October through March Season Schedule:

Meetings, competitions, fundraising, volunteering activities. Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily, with skills in organization, leadership, and knowledge of student support and safety protocols. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Strong organizational and leadership skills. Experience in sponsorship/mentoring preferred. Knowledge of student discipline and safety protocols. Ability to build positive relationships and adapt as needed. Stipend Range:
$2,981 - $4,995 based on 1.0 FTE, subject to collective bargaining agreement. Seniority Level
